Introduction¶
Mesh modeling typically consists of roughly blocking out the shape using primitives, then using various tools to add detail and create more intricate parts.
The 3D Viewport has three principal modes for this:
- Object Mode
Supports basic operations such as creating objects, joining objects, and managing shape keys and UV/color layers.
- Edit Mode
Used for the majority of polygon-based mesh editing. This chapter mainly deals with this mode.
- Sculpt Mode
An alternative editing mode which uses brushes to deform the mesh as though it were a piece of clay. See the Sculpting & Painting section.
